Description

The Computer Programming & Development curriculum prepares students to design and develop desktop and web applications. The primary emphasis is hands-on training in programming and related computer areas that provide the ability to adapt as systems evolve.

Students will solve business computer problems through programming techniques and procedures and will become proficient in Java, C++, HTML, MVC, REST, unit testing, server-side JavaScript and SQL.

Upon graduation, they will be able to support the software development needs of businesses in a variety of industries, including health care, manufacturing, insurance, finance and software publishing.

Potential occupations include the following: Programmer, Technical support specialist, Software developer, Software trainer, Web developer, Software tester, Programmer/analyst, Quality assurance specialist, Systems analyst, Technical writer, Software architect, Database developer, Computer specialist.

This curriculum complies with the standard approved by the State Board of Community Colleges.

Students may be required to take developmental courses in Math and/or English as a result of high school GPA or pre-enrollment placement tests. Therefore, the student may need more than the minimum number of semester hours listed for graduation. Consult a program advisor for more information.
